So I'm busy breaking open all the loot... I made out pretty good again, this year, because for the second year running (!) I was a good girl and stashed money for the 'Fest instead of spending it on other stuff.
Finally found that Data in Dress Uniform figure I've been wanting for years... opening this one gave me a little pang of nostalgia. Not just for the TNG days, either: back when these Playmates action figures were on the shelves, Toys "R" Us stores were actually filled with... you know, toys. None of this "Kids "R" Us/Babies "R" Us nonsense where half the place is taken up with cribs and strollers and kids' clothes. All toys, all the time. Also a little nostalgia for the days, not so long past, when a toy was held in its packaging by a simple molded interior tray, and the accessories had a few pieces of tape keeping them in place, and there were
no twist ties. Not a one to be found in this Star Trek action figure from the mid-90s. Also picked up a Deanna Troi figure, to give my brother as sort of a gag gift. I got into Trek when I was 12, and ever since then bro has taken great delight in giving me shit for being a Trekkie. Then a few years ago it comes out that he always had a crush on the lovely Counselor. XD XD
What else did I get... went on a shameless orgy of astro-droid buying. XD I have four new R2-D2s: an eraser, a stamp, an embroidered patch, and the Episode I figure that I somehow missed the first time around - the one with the CommTech chip. I loved those stupid things. XD I even shelled out for the chip-reader and the 9-volts it requires. Oh, and I got the other Entertainment Earth Astromech 5-pack, so now I have all 10 semi-anonymous droids who appeared somewhere in the saga for 15 seconds each.
As for miscellany, I also have a big ol' red embroidered patch of the Autobot symbol... another Geek Tag, this one says "geek girl..." a Titanium Series of Kit Fisto's (supposed) Jedi starfighter (I love all these non-movie ships and droids they're coughing up)... and another geeky pin for my bag, this one of the Independent (a.k.a. Browncoat) insignia from Firefly. And a t-shirt with Mal on it which says "Big Damn Hero." ^____^ It's kind of an olive green, which is definitely not a good color for me, but it has Mal on it. ^____^ And a couple more pieces of art from Sue Dawe, some unicorns to satisfy my inner 10-year-old. And a very nifty chain-mail bracelet, and I think if I ever go insane some day I might take up making chain-mail jewelry. XD
Oh, and I scored two 9" Data dolls for $9. For the two of them. IIRC, they retailed for $20 each, back in the day. XD Sometimes it pays to take one more spin through the dealer's room late on Sunday. Guy tried to sell me the other three he had left ($20 for the five dolls) but I'm not that interested in 12" figures of the DS9 people.
Oooh! Oooh! And I also snagged, from the freebie table, some mini-posters for the next Star Trek movie and for Indiana Jones. I have two extras of each one, so if anybody wants one, holler.
